Sand saver

In order to reduce locomotive sanding, a special electronic panel has been designed that will monitor speed and prevent the locomotive sanders from operating if the locomotive is not moving (zero speed).
Determine a convenient location to mount the Sand Panel in Control stand or under floor
near Control Stand. Keep in mind you will need access to the axle generator speed signal,
battery positive and negative and the Emergency Sand Switch (ESS).
The Sand Panel comes premounted and wired with it’s integral relay mount. Mount the
Sand Panel using the provided 4 mounting holes and #10 screws. Do not weld on or near the
Sand Panel. Run #14 Exane wires as required to obtain the axle alternator input, battery
power and ESS connections per the following drawing.

This box converts new train line throttle reference voltage from new Locomotives 0-74 volts to older Locomotives 0-50 volts.
Outputs 0-50 volts proportional to the 0-74 volt input to the load regulator voltage reference.
Allows new Locomotives to run with old Locomotives.

Zero crossing generators
Small size 2 3/8 x 4 3/8, powder coated bright safety yellow in aluminum box, 6 foot long
leads with alligator clips, runs on two (2) -9 volt batteries--- +&- 9 volt swing. the
speedo pulser has wheel sizes and frequency on the front and axle generator/rev at 50mph.,
according to wheel size.
D-Lerter plug

Prevents Locomotive from automatically setting the brakes while loading and unloading coal cars.
To install:
Turn generator field off.
Plug D-Lerter into front M.U. plug.
When the unit is plugged in, the light will flash.
Ac Tach
